Hi there!

I'm Rory! I'm a:

-designer
-writer
-director, actor, and all-around artist!

based in Boston, Massachusetts. As an only child with a Matilda complex (learned to read far too young), I believe life is all about telling a good story.

Design

As a designer, I love to play with typography, color, and layouts, with a focus on type design and print media! I'm a strong believer in the intersection between fun and function and I try to bring that into all of my designs, whether that's through funky typefaces, hand drawn icons and illustrations, or experimental structures.

A lifelong lover of words, I care deeply about doing well by them through my design, which is how I got drawn in to typography and book design. I'm especially passionate about how type design and physical art forms such as sewing, knitting, and printmaking have the potential to interact.

Below are some select projects that I'm particularly proud of - feel free to click to read more!

Writing

Although my area of expertise is primarily playwriting, I consider myself a bit of a literary jack-of-all-trades, writing short stories, essays, and currently working on a novel.

In my work, I aim to create vivid characters that are interesting to write and to play. I love playing with themes of belonging, queerness, and how space forms identity. This all sounds very serious, but don't be mistaken - if you think things aren't also getting a little weird and surreal, you're wrong.

My plays have been produced in the Boston Theatre Marathon, Fresh Ink Theatre Company's Mad Dash, by Silver Masque Theatre Company at Northeastern University, and at the University of Northern Iowa.

Vaguely vampiric radio hosts. Incredibly tragic lesbian breakups. A one-man show that just can't seem to go right. Talking paintings, mimes, Twilight, teenage psychics - if any of these are interesting to you, you would love what I have to say. Check it out below!
